Me and My Guitar Lyrics

by Mitch Rossell

This is my first song with a new guitar,
That I bought yesterday.
It marked the year anniversary of the girl I used to date,
She thought I was coming home with a shiny new surprise.
When she saw my purchase, there was a fire in her eyes
I did my best to calm her down, but she wasn't havin' none of that
There wasn't no sweet talkin' I could do, to try and win her back.
So, I broke out that new guitar, and I played my best love song.
Apparently that wasn't quite enough because now she's gone.

And my friends keep askin' if I'm crazy,
And the best response I've given is maybe.
They wish they understood,
Why I bought these strings and wood.
They remind me she ain't never comin' back.
I say, me and my guitar can live with that.

When I'm pickin' chords and singin' songs,
Like the one I've got right here.
It makes me smile more in one night, than I did this whole past year.
And that guitar don't boss me, or bring up all my faults;
It's always got something nice to say when it talks.

And my friends keep askin' if I'm crazy,
And the best response I've given is maybe.
They wish they understood,
Why I bought these strings and wood.
They remind me she ain't never comin' back.
I say, me and my guitar can live with that.

There's plenty more fine women in this town.
This is the first guitar like this I've found.

And my friends keep askin' if I'm crazy,
And the best response I've given is maybe.
They wish they understood,
Why I bought these strings and wood.
They remind me she ain't never comin' back.
They say, boy ya know she ain't ever comin' back.
I say, me and my guitar can live with that.
